Stage 4: the Grande Finale

All good things come to an end. Quickly. Beskidy MTB Trophy is no different in that matter. Two past editions of could be called monotonous in some, very positive way - the heat and constant sunshine were very pleasant, but quite far from the Trophy’s legend. This year we can say that the race was complete - we had typical summer weather, as well as heavy rainfalls, mud, fogs and gales. Luckily we finish the Trophy just as we’ve started it - with a beautiful, almost cloudless sky and pleasurable, but not scorching hot, temperature.

Today’s stage could easily be called the Queen’s stage, at least for CLASSIC distance. The victor of the day (Mathias Frohn) completed 76 km and 3200 of total ascent in 4.5 hours. The German from Team FireBike Drossiger not only won the 4th stage but also the GC (total time 13:59:09). Bartosz Oleszczuk (RYBCZYŃSKI-BIKES Remmers TP-Link Team) came second and Łukasz Chalastra (Prema Cycling Team) third - these were the best stage results for both of them. The podium in GC was completed by Czech Milan Damek (Team Bikeworld) and Frenchman Sebastien Pelé (AVC Team). In women category Belgian Hilde Verschaeve (Zwieties) took an undisputed win both in the last stage and GC. Second spot for Sandy Trautmann (Scott Bike24 MTB Team), who was leading today’s race for a long time, but was eventually eliminated by puncture. Anna Świrkowicz (team.ase.com.pl) came third and lost second spot in the general classification in favor of Trautmann.

On MEGA distance a stage victory for Robert Skrobol (TomaziBike) who outraced Michał Wacławkek and Jan Statsny (Alset Racing Team). However it was Statsny who took the overall win. The GC’s podium was completed by Marek Strug (VW Colex Rybczyński) and Tomasz Jaworski (Baltic Home Świnoujście). Katarzyna Galewicz clearly dominated the women’s category, by sealing the overall victory with another stage win. Paula Hinczewska (7r Logistic Politechnika Gdańska) came second and Zofia Czyż third (IBOX Mała Liga Cycling Team). Both ladies switched places in the GC.

We think that after 11 editions there’s no need to add that next year we are coming back with full power. The registration for the 12th edition starts on the 20th of June at 8 PM (CET). There are already quite a few ideas in our heads, that will surely surprise all of you. Gather your strenght, plan your holiday, convince your family and friends to come back with you. See you on May, 31st! Beskidy MTB Trophy 2018 in less than a year!
